NEW VOTER ID LAW
In May 2011 Governor
Walker signed Act 23 requiring Wisconsin voters to show a photo ID at polling
places, and making other changes to election law affecting residency and
straight-party voting. Starting in 2012
all Wisconsin voters will be required to show a photo ID such as a driver
license or state-issued ID in order to receive a ballot and vote.
If you do not
have a valid Wisconsin driver license or state-issued ID, you can apply for a Voter
ID card at the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The Voter ID card is free of charge to citizens who need it to
vote. When you apply for the card be sure to mark
on your application form that you require the card to vote and state that you
are applying for the Free Voter ID card.
